Defensive Driving School

Hoover Municipal Court offers several National Safety Council Level I 4 hour, Alive at 25 and Level II 8 hour Defensive Driving Courses at our office located at:
2020 Valleydale Rd.
Hoover, AL 35244

Driving school may be offered for defendants charged with moving violations, excluding defendants who possess a Commercial Drivers License or who have a prior DUI conviction. Any defendant wishing to take driving school must apply for and register in person. Upon completion of the class, the defendant’s charge will be dismissed.

Taking the Program

Registration must be done in person at least 48 hours in advance of the class date.  No registration can be accepted on the date of the class.

If interested in driving school, please check with a court magistrate before entering a plea on your citation. If you plead guilty, it will be too late to take driving school. If your ticket is with Hoover, standard fees are currently $125 for the 4 hour class and Alive at 25 and $150 for the 8 hour class. The fee for Defensive Driving School is due in full at the time of registration.

If your ticket was issued by an agency other than the City of Hoover, and you have been approved by the court to attend Defensive Driving School, you must register for class in person and you must pay for the defensive driving class at the time of registration. The costs for referral cases are $25.00 for the Level I 4 hour class and Alive at 25, and $50 for the Level II 8 hour class.

Currently, we only accept cash as payment for all Defensive Driving classes. Check out the calendar for next class times.
